Shaw at Home

Lambourn 7 - 2 Shaw

Lambourns impressive start to the season continued with an emphatic win against a dangerous Shaw side. The opening five minutes were very even with Shaw putting us under pressure but some great defending by Daniel Bayliss and captain for the day Howard Hughes kept them at bay. Lambourn started to grow in confidence and a through ball to Luke Plumb saw him finish well, from that point on it was all one way for the rest of the first half. Declan Rackham workingly tirelessly in centre midfield got a deserved solo goal and soon after a corner from Declan was flicked on by Bradley Skeats and Kieran Ratcliffe made sure with a back heel on the line. Another corner shortly after from Bradley was cleared to the edge of the area where Howard Hughes hit an unstoppable shot in off the crossbar. Just before half time Aaron Smillie in goal who had little to do picked the ball up and launched a massive kick which bounced once outside the Shaw area and then went up and over the goalkeeper for an unbelivelable goal. Half time 5 - 0

Ciaran Quick came into goal for second half and soon busy as Shaw started the better side finally Shaw made the breakthough with a well taken goal from outside of the area. Lambourn were stunned back into action and started to pass the ball well again and after a period of domination Luke Plumb got his second goal. Matthew Francis came on for Daniel and went into midfield with Bradley dropping back into defence and soon after Luke was replaced by Kacey Lane the changes seemed to effect the flow of Lambourns passing and for a 10 minute period Shaw were on top which resulted in them scoring another well finished long range effort. The last five minutes saw Lambourn on top again and good work from Bradley found Matthew who passed to Declan to finsh for his second goal from the edge of the area.

A great effort from the whole team who all did their jobs well sees Lambourn top of the league with a game in hand and a goal difference of +9 after 2 games WELL DONE

Ramsbury Away

Lambourn under 9’s played their first game of the season away to Ramsbury, which can only be described as a confident and compelling start. Ramsbury took an early lead against the run of play with a well taken goal, Lambourn continued to dominate and after several good chances Declan equalized. After more squandered chances Lambourn deservedly took the lead through Luke. Ramsbury were being restricted to the odd half chance with some solid defending by Bradley and Daniel. Harley was making some great runs down the wing and on one of these he crossed the ball for Declan to score his second. Kieron started to come into the game more and more and hit a great shot from outside the area which hit the crossbar and then finally he got a goal just before half time to make it 4 - 1 at the break.

The second half started like the first with Ramsbury scoring with their first attack, Lambourn then took control again and soon score a fifth through Luke. Luke made way for Lee and Lambourn continued to dominate then on a rare break for Ramsbury they won a free kick on the edge of the area, the Ramsbury defender hit the ball right in the top corner only for Aaron to make a great save to push it away for a corner.Howard came on for Daniel at the back and after hitting the post Declan got his hat trick for Lambourns sixth. Towards the end the lads started to pass the ball from back to front and finished the game the stronger side. The game was a great start to the season let’s hope we go from strength to strength!
